Advantages of Training and development:

The advantages of training are as follows: 

1) Decrease in Production Expenditure: Training helps the employees to do their work to the best of their abilities in the most economic way. It results in maximum use of resources available within the organization. This helps the organization to cut their cost on re-work and non-economical methods. 

 2) Reduces Chances of Accident: A trained person uses machines very efficiently; as he has been taught to use it to the full capacity, which reduces the chances of accidents or mishaps. 

 3) Steadiness in the Organization: Training helps the employees to work efficiently. This helps the organization to free a person, who is supervising them. It also boosts confidence of the employees, who work without absenteeism and with dedication. 

 4) Increases Employee's Confidence: The trained workers are able to do their jobs in appropriate ways and can understand the procedures and methods without any difficulty. Hence, employees gain confidence and start working with their full potential to attain job satisfaction. 

 5) Improved Levels of Quantity and Quality: Training leads to better production of the goods in large quantity, which are qualitatively superior as well. 

 6) Identification of Efficient and Non-Efficient Employees: Training helps to differentiate between an efficient and non-efficient person. With the help of training, it is easy to find the person who is able to learn and perform the tasks quickly and those who are slow learner and performers. 

 7) Minimum Need of Supervision: If a trained person is operating machinery, there will be no need of supervisor; as the employee himself is sufficient enough to do a good job.

 8) Useful for Managers: As managers are free from the workload of supervision, it becomes easier for them to focus on other vital issues of an organization. 

 9) Improves Understanding Power: Training gives the person better understanding of the procedure in which he is involved. One can understand the technical details of the procedure on his own, which helps in delivering better results.

DISADVANTAGES OF TRAINING EMPLOYESS AND DEVELOPMENT/DISADVANTAGES OF STAFF TRAINING

There are many kinds of training and developments are provide to all employees of a company or organization. The training is helpful for the development of the employees for their growth in the organization. Promotion is also done with the help of training. But if training is important for all employees of the organization it has also some cons or disadvantages of the training and development of employees.

EXPENSIVE

One of the biggest employee training and development disadvantage is cost. A company can handle employee training initially but the cost of training and development is not easily handled by any company or organization. For example, if you use an outside trainer for the training of employees, you have to pay him. And on the other way, send a trainer to another location, the company have also bothered his payment for his efforts.

BENEFITS DEPEND ON TRAINER

sometimes, companies choose a trainer for the employees from one of their good employee, who is good in his works. But in that particular situation trainer can’t provide good training to employees because he or she is only good in his own work. Work as a trainer is a difficult job for that particular employee and he cants makeover another employees personality. So the quality of training only depends on a good trainer.

REQUIRED MORE TIME

A trainer cant provides enough time to employees because he or she may be busy in his own tasks. Some employees are pretty weak in their performance and they required more time training for the success in their work. A company or trainer does not give them extra time and they are not so good in their work.

CAN INCREASE COMPETITION

Did the training and development to your employees increase your competition? Yes, because you give training to your inexperienced employees for the work in your company. By giving training to your employees you can increase the competition level for your organization. Before deciding to invest in advanced training programs, it’s important to judge the loyalty of your staff.

 LACK OF CORPORATE COMMITMENT

 Lack of organizational commitment is one of the main concerns seen in many companies. Majority of corporations are least concerned to invest money for the training of their employees working at a lower level. In case, they invest money to provide training and development programs it is preferably for the superior level.

 UNAFFORABLE FOR SMES

 Small-and medium-sized enterprises avoid training and development program for their employees as the investment incurred in these programs is very high. Sometimes the cost is incurred so much that it becomes unaffordable for these small-and medium-scale companies.

LACK OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT

 When the government is unable to provide sufficient financial support to the big organizations due to any reason, it becomes really difficult for these concerns to conduct any kind of training program for the enhancement of the employees. Thus, the training benefits are not utilized properly which in turn hinders the growth of the workers.

LOW AVAILABILITY OF SKILLED AND EMPLOYABLE GRADUATES

 Sometimes organization has to arrange for the training programs to teach even the basic skills to the employees. In such cases, training programs are strained as the training become more time consuming and expensive.

LACK OF INSTITUTION AND INDUSTRY CORPORATION

There is a direct connection between the training institutes and industrial sector as the communication between the two can form a best way of swapping the common requirements. But due to lack of this coordination, companies are unable to communicate the skills and capabilities that employees should encompass within them.
