DISADVANTAGES OF MAGNETIC DISK :
- On cost per bit basis, cost of magnetic disk is low but the cost of magnetic tapes is even lower. It is the main floppy disk weaknesses
- They must be stored in dust free environment.
- floppy disk, zip disks and disk packs should be labeled properly to prevent erasure of useful data by mistake.
- Some types of magnetic disks like disk packs, and Winchester disks are not so easily portable as magnetic tape.
- It is more difficult to maintain security of information stored in those magnetic disk that are used as shared.
- use of magnetic disk is less efficient than magnetic tapes for sequential applications.
